A kota is a South African street food staple — a hollowed-out quarter loaf of bread (or full loaf) loaded with a combination of chips, polony, egg, cheese, atchar and sauces. It originated in townships and has become one of the most loved everyday foods in the country. Kota Co. exists to build a national QSR brand around it.
Core menu items are consistent across all Kota Co. locations. Some seasonal, promotional or limited items may vary by store. All current menu items are listed on our menu page.

Franchise Questions
Total investment starts from R649,000 incl. VAT. The franchise fee is included. Royalty is 5% and marketing contribution is 2.5%. Final investment may vary depending on store format, site condition, landlord requirements, utilities, deposits, opening stock and working capital. Detailed investment information is provided during the formal application process.
Kota Co. offers three franchise formats: Kiosks (compact, high-footfall takeaway), Diners (larger stores with seating potential) and Containers (flexible modular stores for visibility and speed of setup). Ideal store size is 35m²–80m². Each format maintains Kota Co. brand standards while accommodating different site opportunities.
Kota Co. is looking for hands-on, service-driven and commercially minded franchisees. Hospitality, QSR, retail or food-service experience is beneficial. The most important requirement is commitment to the system, the customer and the Kota Co. brand.
Support includes application review, site assessment and approval, feasibility review, lease support, store layout and design guidance, equipment and supplier guidance, training before opening, opening preparation, local-store marketing guidance, operational standards, menu controls, food cost systems and ongoing store visits.
